OZ Press (the studio of Alice Ottinger and Jean Zamboni) continued...
In 1966 they quit teaching at Mankato and moved to Illinois State University. Their
1100 pound press and all the household furnishings moved to Normal where the two taught
until 1972. They moved OZ Press to the basement at 338 West Bridge Street, Owattonna,
where it operated as their studio until 1999. Before Alice died in August of that year
they donated the printshop to the Steele County Historical Society where it is an
operating press, still.
No new serigraphs were produced after 1998, and the Owatonna Arts Center was given the
entire set of the OZ originals that Ottinger and Zamboni still had in their possession
at that time. All OZ serigraphs were original multicolored prints, handpulled and
designed by Alice and/or Jean. The only reproductions of their work were made by Courage
Center to be used in five of their Christmas Card collections.
